The Year of the Rabbit
For the First Day of Chinese New Year we took a wee trip up north with some of our favorite friends. We went to the Lan Su Chinese Garden. The girls LOVED it! It is really cool - right in the middle of downtown, just a square block of beautiful garden. This tree had a gazillion buds just getting ready to bloom. They had fun activities like lantern making, bookmark making, mahjong playing, and the like. The girls kept saying that it was the most beautiful place they'd been. We also found out Emory is a Rooster, Tessa is a Pig, and I'm a Dog. Then there was a classic Lion Dance, that had all of us mesmerized, until Tessa thought he was coming in for the kill. "HELP!!!!" she screamed at the top of her lungs. I gave the girls the option of staying for the Dragon Dance or heading down the street to VooDoo . . . "duh, mom!" It was a gorgeous day (just like most days around here lately) and I'm finally feeling proficient in navigating around Portland and it's "weirdness".
